El Senado argentino homenajeó a Zelmar Michelini y Héctor Gutiérrez Ruiz con la “Mención de Honor Juana Azurduy de Padilla”, a 40 años de su asesinato.
El Senado argentino homenajeó el jueves a los políticos uruguayos Zelmar Michelini y Héctor Gutiérrez Ruiz en el 40 aniversario de su asesinato en Buenos Aires, durante las dictaduras militares del Cono Sur, con la entrega del premio «Mención de Honor Juana Azurduy de Padilla».
El galardón simboliza un «repudio al genocidio» en recuerdo de los dos legisladores uruguayos que, junto a los miembros del Movimiento de Liberación Nacional (MLN-Tupamaros) Rosario Barredo y William Whitelaw, fueron hallados muertos el 20 de mayo de 1976 en Buenos Aires.
Allí se habían exiliado de la dictadura cívico-militar, contó a Efe el senador Juan Manuel Abal Medina, quien impulsó el acto.
Ese día también desapareció en la misma ciudad el médico uruguayo Manuel Liberoff, cuyo paradero se desconoce aún, y quien debió exiliarse por su militancia política. Su hijo Benjamín, actual viceministro de Turismo de Uruguay, estuvo presente en el acto, acompañado por la ministra de ese ramo, Liliam Kechichián.
«Son 40 años de un hecho que nos unifica en el terror a ambos pueblos», señaló Abal Medina antes de afirmar que las dictaduras «genocidas» de Argentina y Uruguay colaboraban para «asesinar y masacrar» a su pueblo y por eso es importante que estén «trabajando juntos» para «decirle nunca más al terrorismo de estado».
El senador del kirchnerista Frente para la Victoria (FpV) y ex jefe de Gabinete (2011-2013) de la expresidenta Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) recordó que Michelini y Gutiérrez llegaron a Buenos Aires para continuar con su lucha contra la dictadura uruguaya mediante actos políticos y artículos periodísticos, entre otras acciones.
Una lucha que «no dejaron» cuando se produjo el golpe militar el 24 de marzo de 1976 en Argentina, donde, a los pocos meses, los secuestraron y asesinaron.
Unos cien representantes políticos de todas las ideologías de ambos países, diplomáticos, organizaciones de derechos humanos y familiares de las víctimas presenciaron la entrega del galardón que lleva el nombre de la heroína de la independencia sudamericana Juana Azurduy.
El reconocimiento fue recibido por el senador Rafael Michelini, y el presidente del Directorio del Partido Nacional al que perteneció Gutiérrez Ruiz, Luis Alberto Heber.
La ceremonia, en la que también se recordó a Barredo y Whitelaw, se realizó por primera vez en la misma sede del Senado argentino de mano de la vicepresidenta argentina y titular de la cámara alta, Gabriela Michetti, y Abal Medina.
Según dijo este último a Efe, los pueblos que no recuerdan su pasado «están condenados a repetirlo» y por ese motivo este tipo de conmemoraciones son necesarias para lanzar un mensaje de «paz y democracia» al resto del mundo y que «jamás vuelva» a suceder algo así.
El senador también recalcó que hoy se puede decir que «independientemente de cualquier diferencia ideológica», existe un «contundente» rechazo al autoritarismo.
El homenaje, impulsado por la Fundación Zelmar Michelini (FZM), forma parte del ciclo «Ellos en Nosotros: 40 años» que se realiza en ciudades como Montevideo, Ginebra y Barcelona para recordar a estos hombres de «ideas, acción, firmes convicciones y destacada labor legislativa» cuyas vidas fueran «arrebatadas prematuramente», según un comunicado del Senado argentino.
La «Mención de Honor Juana Azurduy de Padilla» se da a personas físicas o jurídicas no argentinas en reconocimiento de su labor en materia científica, técnica, cultural, política, social, deportiva, económica, educativa, moral o emprendedora que hayan promovido el bien común, la independencia y la integración entre sus pueblos.
