Exposición “Exilios” sobre la experiencia de los uruguayos durante la dictadura
La muestra “Exilios” se puede visitar hasta setiembre en el Centro Zelmar Michelini (Coronel Raíz casi Bulevar Batlle y Ordoñez), una propuesta que pretende ser un aporte a la construcción del relato sobre la historia reciente de Uruguay durante la dictadura. La exposición cuenta con material sobre el destierro del senador asesinado por la represión en 1976 en Buenos Aires.

“Exilios” es la primera actividad del año en el marco del ciclo “Ellos en nosotros, 40 años”, explicó la directora del centro e hija del homenajeado, Cecilia Michelini, a la Secretaría de Comunicación Institucional de Presidencia.
“Es una muestra que intenta tres cosas unidas entre sí: contar lo que fue el exilio de Zelmar Michelini desde el lado de lo cotidiano, abarcar ese periodo en general acercando el tema de la manera más pedagógica posible incluyendo su cara solidaria y el encuentro con otros uruguayos que miraban hacia el país desde afuera con su arista artística”, comentó.
La exposición cuenta también con un sector en el que se exhibe material sobre el “insilio”, es decir, el exilio interior. Aquí se rescata información y datos de los uruguayos que se mantuvieron dentro del país, “porque muchas veces no se tiene en cuenta que para ellos fue una experiencia muy dura”, agregó Cecilia Michelini.
“Exilios” se inauguró el martes en la sede del Centro Zelmar Michelini y pretende interactuar con la población hasta setiembre, ya sea recibiendo material como ofreciéndole información a escolares y liceales.

“Se define al exilio como la expulsión de una persona de su país de pertenencia así como a la vida que transcurre fuera de él, mientras que en una época miles de ciudadanos uruguayos marcharon a otras tierras empujados por la dictadura, la inmensa mayoría siguió viviendo en un país dominado por la prepotencia criminal”, detallan los organizadores de la muestra.
“Esto ocurrió en los años 70, cuando a la emigración uruguaya por motivos económicos se le sumó el exilio político y miles de hombres y mujeres se vieron obligados a ‘saltar afuera’ para preservar su libertad, evitar la tortura y hasta salvar sus vidas. Para muchos, abandonar el país de nacimiento fue la única posibilidad de salir de la prisión”, explican.
“Solos, con pareja, hijos, cerca o lejos, huyeron con documentos propios o falsos, por sus propios medios o gracias al refugio en embajadas de países dispuestos a acogerlos. Zelmar Michelini fue un habitante más de ese país sin territorio llamado ‘exilio uruguayo’”, continúan.
“Insilio”
Aunque la palabra “insilio” no está en el diccionario, se utiliza para denominar “a esa suerte de exilio dentro de fronteras en el cual los ciudadanos se vieron forzados a cambiar sus estrategias de vida para sobrevivir en esa dura realidad que imponía la dictadura cívico-militar”, explica Presidencia.
“En los barrios, comercios, medios de transporte, en escuelas, liceos, en todas las expresiones del arte y hasta en el seno de las familias no era posible la franqueza. Por acuerdo o por temor, el régimen recibió adhesiones. La libertad de palabra, la crítica, el humor tenían tutores y hasta el ‘vestirse como quieras’ no era posible”, informa.
