El domingo 9 de agosto se corrió en el Hipódromo de Maroñas el Clásico Zelmar Michelini.Desde hace varios años, se realiza en agosto este homenaje a Zelmar con el apoyo de Hípica Rioplatense.
Zelmar fue un apasionado del turf, actividad que lo entusiasmaba y en la que ganó numerosos amigos entre jockeys, peones, cuidadores, periodistas y aficionados.
La FZM participa activamente en cada Clásico junto a sus socios-colaboradores y amigos.
Este año conjuntamente se corrió el premio Pedro Michelini en homenaje al hermano de Zelmar que fue como él, apasionado del turf.
